Today's ChristianAmbassadors for Christ
20 Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God. 21 For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. 2 Corinthians 5:20-21 KJV As today's Christian we are ambassadors for Christ. An ambassador is a diplomat or a minister. A person of highest rank sent to a foreign country. The Bible says we are a royal priesthood. But you are the ones chosen by God, chosen for the high calling of priestly work, chosen to be a holy people, God's instruments to do his work and speak out for him, to tell others of the night-and-day difference he made for you—from nothing to something, from rejected to accepted. 1 Peter 2:9-10 The Message Bible In the King James version is says we are a “peculiar” people. The word peculiar means belonging only to one person. We belong to God. That makes us a royal priesthood, peculiar. Are we different from non-believers? Yes. But as ambassadors, we are to recruit the non-believers. We are considered messengers, carrying the gospel to everyone who has not heard. Wouldn’t a world full of ambassadors for Christ be a wonderful place? But if everyone were Christians there would be no need for ambassadors. That is exactly what we should strive for. Think about ambassadors from other countries. They live here in the United States in very nice homes. Their homes are mansions; some are as big as castles. The country that sent them takes care of their welfare. Think about our ambassadors for the United States. Do we not send them out to live in other countries? Yes, and the United States, who sends them, takes good care of them. They live in nice homes, have all their food and clothes provided. They in return represent the United States and simply maintain a friendly relationship with the country in which they are staying. They are not under the laws of that country, but under the law of the United States. Today’s Christians are under God’s law, which is clearly outlined in the New Testament. But as Christians, we are to adhere to the laws of the land in which we live. We are to balance our lives, living as the Bible outlines, while being good citizens here on earth. God has provided provisions for us, accessed through the Bible, to take care of us. If the United States takes care of their ambassadors, how much more so will God take care of us? The provisions that God has provided for us is health, food and shelter. 30-33 "If God gives such attention to the appearance of wildflowers—most of which are never even seen—don't you think he'll attend to you, take pride in you, do his best for you? What I'm trying to do here is to get you to relax, to not be so preoccupied with getting, so you can respond to God's giving. People who don't know God and the way he works fuss over these things, but you know both God and how he works. Steep your life in God-reality, God-initiative, God-provisions. Don't worry about missing out. You'll find all your everyday human concerns will be met.” Matthew 6:33 The Message Bible And anything we ask in Jesus name we receive. We can have what we desire as well. 24 Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. Mark 11:24 KJV Because we believe that Christ is the son of God, we are considered ambassadors for Him. He is our King. He is rich. We simply need to be Christ-like and walk in the spirit. As ambassadors for Christ, we represent Him here on earth. We are to maintain friendly relationships with the occupants on earth and to promote the kingdom from which we are sent. Our true home is the kingdom of heaven. Being today's Christian means walking in the Spirit. What exactly does walking in the Spirit mean? 22-23 But what happens when we live God's way? He brings gifts into our lives, much the same way that fruit appears in an orchard—things like affection for others, exuberance about life, serenity. We develop a willingness to stick with things, a sense of compassion in the heart, and a conviction that a basic holiness permeates things and people. We find ourselves involved in loyal commitments, not needing to force our way in life, able to marshal and direct our energies wisely. 23-24 Legalism is helpless in bringing this about; it only gets in the way. Among those who belong to Christ, everything connected with getting our own way and mindlessly responding to what everyone else calls necessities is killed off for good—crucified. 25-26 Since this is the kind of life we have chosen, the life of the Spirit, let us make sure that we do not just hold it as an idea in our heads or a sentiment in our hearts, but work out its implications in every detail of our lives. That means we will not compare ourselves with each other as if one of us were better and another worse. We have far more interesting things to do with our lives. Each of us is an original. Galatians 5:22-26 KJV Walk in the Spirit, every day, in every way. For today’s Christian regardless of what jobs we may hold, our true job is being an ambassador for Christ. How wonderful to know what our “job” is. An ambassador for Christ! And the benefits are great. Praise God for making us ambassadors. Go from Today's Christian back to home.

Psalm 91 1 He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. 2 I will say [b] of the LORD, "He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust." 3 Surely he will save you from the fowler's snare and from the deadly pestilence. 4 He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart. 5 You will not fear the terror of night, nor the arrow that flies by day, 6 nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness, nor the plague that destroys at midday. 7 A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you. 8 You will only observe with your eyes and see the punishment of the wicked. 9 If you make the Most High your dwelling— even the LORD, who is my refuge- 10 then no harm will befall you, no disaster will come near your tent. 11 For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways; 12 they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone. 13 You will tread upon the lion and the cobra; you will trample the great lion and the serpent. 14 "Because he loves me," says the LORD, "I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name. 15 He will call upon me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him. 16 With long life will I satisfy him and show him my salvation." |
