How Great is Our God!

How great is our God! If there's ever a passage in the Bible that conveys just how great God truly is on a personal level I believe its Psalm 23.

I often refer to this chapter as the "prayer of peace and provision." It's a passage that can be read out loud as a prayer – because the most powerful words we can utter are God's own word.

I have a few favorite and famous Bible verses and this is certainly in the top of those favorites. I love to read this passage out loud and even sing it. It truly blesses my soul and speaks to my heart.

Psalm 23 (NIV)

A psalm of David.

1 The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want.

2 He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters,

3 he restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake.

4 Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.

6 Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.

Can't you see how great is our God in this passage? Make it a habit to read this out loud daily – over your life over your family. Behold the awesome power of God’s spoken word!

Psalm 91

1 He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.

2 I will say [b] of the LORD, "He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust."

3 Surely he will save you from the fowler's snare and from the deadly pestilence.

4 He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.

5 You will not fear the terror of night, nor the arrow that flies by day,

6 nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness, nor the plague that destroys at midday.

7 A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you.

8 You will only observe with your eyes and see the punishment of the wicked.

9 If you make the Most High your dwelling— even the LORD, who is my refuge-

10 then no harm will befall you, no disaster will come near your tent.

16 With long life will I satisfy him and show him my salvation."
