Conversation With God
That is what the Holy Spirit is there for. He talks to us and we can talk to Him. “Yeah, but it’s not the same as sitting down with a close friend,” you say. Sure it is. We have to be willing to develop the skill of hearing Him and believing that He hears us. I have seen ministers, people who are filled with the Spirit, who walk in the Spirit, have conversations with Jesus. It can happen to you too. It all starts with immersing yourself in the Word. Daily meditate on and speak aloud the Word. Pray and praise. And be silent. Be still and know that I am God…Psalm 46:10 KJV After a while a knowing creeps in. You’ll hear a thought and think, is that Him? Pretty soon, you’ll know that you know that the still small voice in your mind is the Holy Spirit. And sometimes He speaks while I am praying in the Spirit. Images or words will flash through my mind while uttering the unknown tongue. This is how my converstaion with God begins. Have you ever had a feeling about something? Has a thought just suddenly formed in your mind about a situation or a problem? If so, ask yourself, does the thought’s end result have a good outcome? Or is it intended to kill, steal or destroy? See John 10:10 in the Bible. That’s how you can tell from whom it comes. By daily immersing yourself in the Word, you put on the full armor of God and are protected from the thoughts that come from the devil. Staying prayerfully alert and attentive to the Word keeps you in the good graces of God and His all powerful protection. Keeping in the Word keeps the conversation with God open at all times. I began really having conversation with God after I had spent several months of intense Bible study, reading it out loud and praying. I would hear Him at times. It was always valuable information to help me or someone close to me. Sometimes I would ask and wait and then the answer would come. And I knew that I knew that it was Him. I had no doubt whatsoever. This is how much God loved the world: He gave his Son, his one and only Son. And this is why: so that no one need be destroyed; by believing in him, anyone can have a whole and lasting life. God didn't go to all the trouble of sending his Son merely to point an accusing finger, telling the world how bad it was. He came to help, to put the world right again. Anyone who trusts in him is acquitted; anyone who refuses to trust him has long since been under the death sentence without knowing it. And why? Because of that person's failure to believe in the one-of-a-kind Son of God when introduced to him.

Psalm 91 1 He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. 2 I will say [b] of the LORD, "He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust." 3 Surely he will save you from the fowler's snare and from the deadly pestilence. 4 He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart. 5 You will not fear the terror of night, nor the arrow that flies by day, 6 nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness, nor the plague that destroys at midday. 7 A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you. 8 You will only observe with your eyes and see the punishment of the wicked. 9 If you make the Most High your dwelling— even the LORD, who is my refuge- 10 then no harm will befall you, no disaster will come near your tent. 11 For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways; 12 they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone. 13 You will tread upon the lion and the cobra; you will trample the great lion and the serpent. 14 "Because he loves me," says the LORD, "I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name. 15 He will call upon me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him. 16 With long life will I satisfy him and show him my salvation." |
